User Experience Design
You design and create your IoT product for a human being. A human has needs that you need to take into account. By approaching the product from the perspective of the user, you define your technical product requirements and create your product. You do this by following a iterative product design procedure that you test for the set user needs and product requirements.
User needs
User needs are what the user wants with and from the product. You can describe the full interaction with the product in user needs. You can describe the user needs either SMART or in user stories
User test
To know if you reached the user needs with your product you test. You can perform quick and effective user tests via a Guerilla Test. Involve between 5 to 10 users for your test. Other types of user tests are also fine. As long a you follow a clear test-method and test for the user needs.

Physical Design
For the physical design of your product you use professional design software as OpenSCAD, FreeCAD, Fusion360 or other software. You design your product to be easily manufactured using a computer controlled machinge as 3D-printer, laser cutter or other. Check the makerslab for the CCM we have at the HvA. For your first iteration and to test your design you can create a prototype by and using paper or other materials. We call this manual manufacturing.
